07/22/10 4 CommentsGraduation Day
Well, I did it!! After 3 long and difficult years at university, I finally graduated today :D I remember coming home on my second day crying to my mum that I was going to drop out because I couldn't handle it. I carried on however, and owe some of the best experiences of my life to university life. I met my best friend 3 years ago standing outside the lecture hall, and I couldn't imagine my life without him. We've stood by each other through the good and bad times, and I know that he's a big part of the reason why I am who I am today. He may not know it, but he brought out the best in me and made me realise that I could do anything. I love you, Jem :)
More tough times came when I lost my grandmother to cancer half way through my degree. After my dad left, my gran took his place and helped my mum raise us. I miss her every day, and I wish she and my grandad, who passed away 2 months after my gran, could have been here today to watch me graduate. I know that they would have been so proud. I like to think that they were both watching today :)
My mum always said that it's not the quantity of parents, it's the quality of the upbringing that makes a person who they are, and even though she spent most of our lives as a single parent, she made me the woman that I am today. Her strength, support and love got me through university and she was always there through the tough times. The proudest moment of my life was when I saw her beaming smile after the ceremony today. She said she was proud of me, but really I'm proud of her for never giving up and for making a life for herself and for us when we had nothing. Today wasn't just about me, it was about her too. I got a degree and my mum got to see the results of her fine parenting. I love you, mummy :)
I honestly don't know what the next step is going to be, but whatever it is I know I'll get through it because I have the most amazing, supportive people surrounding me :)
A few shout outs: To my sisters, Libby and Becky, for keeping me grounded and sane throughout the 3 years. I love you two so so so much. To my dad, for always trying to make me happy and chilled out by taking me out for lunch when you knew I was getting too stressed over an essay or revision. Wish you could've been there today, but y'know, if things were different I know you would've been. Love you always. To my friend, David, for making me laugh every single day. We just go to prove childhood friendships can last and remain strong. To my new family, Holli, MaryLee, Robert, Shayla, Buffy and Michelle, for all the laughs and support. You guys have no idea how much you've done for me in the short time that we've known each other. I love our Twitter and Skype chats; they're always a joy :) CMA Fest was the best week of my life, and you guys took care of me and made me so feel welcome. I love being your Brit more than you know :) I thank Carrie Underwood for bringing you amazing people into my life. I love you all :)
My brand new Sociology degree and I wish you all a goodnight ;)

03/25/10 12 CommentsMy Meet & Greet with Carrie :)
Ok, so it was such an amazing experience that I can't actually remember it all. lol. I'll just write what I think happened! haha! Just kidding.
Ok, so I walked up to her and I shook her hand, and she asked how I was. Then I gave her my drawing of her, and she said 'Oh my God, is this for me? Did you draw this? That is amazing! I wish I could draw. I can't draw'. lol.
Then as she was signing the autograph, I said that I'd come all the way from England to see her, and she said 'Oh! Guys! where are my British guys?' then she pointed at this guy behind me and said 'he's from England too!' and I said 'oh cool', then she (or her assistant - I can't remember as I was talking to the guy) said 'MARMITE!' and I said, 'OMG, I love marmite!' Then she said 'oh, I hate it' and I said 'How can you hate it? It's lovely!' and she said 'Blagh! Oh, no no' and I said 'Oh Carrie, you disappoint me' and she laughed and said, 'no, they love it. I'm surprised you guys don't know each other.' (meaning the other guy from England) lol.
Then I gave her a letter from another fan club member, and said that she couldn't make it to the show, so I said I'd pass the letter on, and she read the name and said 'aww, that's sweet'. So, yeah, Riley, if you're reading this... she got it! :)
Then I asked for a hug, and she said 'of course!' and flung her arms around me. Then I had my picture taken, and she thanked me for coming all this way to see her :)
Oh yeah, then I nearly walked out without my bag, and her assistant said 'don't forget your bag', and Carrie said 'yeah, anything you leave behind, we keep' hahaha!
Well, that's pretty much it. It was something I'll never forget, and I'm so glad I got to chat and laugh with her :)
The show afterwards was AMAZING! I've been to a lot of concerts, and let me tell you... NOTHING BEATS THAT!! Her vocals are incredible, her stage was awesome, and her outfits were beautiful. I didn't want it to end, but I got some great pictures, so I'll remember it always. Well worth the time, effort and money to come all the way from London to Ottawa to see her.
Later, guys :) x AJ x

03/21/10 0 CommentsAnd so it begins...
Hello!!
I'm really excited! Why? Because I'm leaving for Canada tomorrow!!! Yay yay yay!! It's 9pm right now, and I have to get up at 4am tomorrow morning. Boo :( I can't sleep though; I'm far too excited! It feels like Christmas Eve!! Haha!
My flight leaves London Heathrow at 12:05pm, and lands in Ottawa at around 3pm :) Ah man, I hope my jet lag isn't too bad! I get really bad jet lag. I doesn't matter how much the time difference is, I suffer so badly.
Wednesday is the big day!! It's crazy; if you told me this time last year, that I would be seeing Carrie Underwood perform live, I'd have probably laughed in your face. lol. But it's actually happening... and on top of that... I get to MEET Carrie. Things like this don't happen to girls like me often, and I understand that I am truly blessed and lucky to be going on this trip. I want to thank my amazing family who arranged this whole thing for my 21st birthday - I owe them everything, and I can't thank them enough for making this happen. My crazy dream is actually gonna come true on Wednesday :)
Well, anyway, I best be off to bed; I've got a loooong day tomorrow :)
Have a good one, guys.

About xAmberx
Well, what can I say? (oops, sorry! Couldn't resist!). I'm a 23 year old from the UK, and I have this little obsession with the blonde chick, they call Carrie Underwood :)
I attended my very first Carrie concert on March 24th in Canada. Yes, people... flew 8 hours for a concert by myself! Oh, the things we do for you Carrie ;) I also met her that day too, which made March 24th 2010 the best day of my life :)
I also went to the CMA Fest and Fan Club Party in June for my graduation present :) It was so much fun!! For years I wished and hoped that I could go to a Carrie Underwood concert someday... and within 4 months I got to see her 4 times, and I met her as well. CRAZY LUCKY!
I'm excited to be a part of this Fan Club, as I've never been a member of a Fan Club before :D
I'm on Twitter if you want to follow me (http://twitter.com/miss_richmond)... can't guarantee I'll say anything worth reading, but I'd love to chat to you on there :) I like making new friends.
So anyway... yeah... now I don't know what else to say... so I won't say anything else.
